Budapest, known to many as the pearl of the Danube, is formed by the union of two cities: Buda and Pest, which looks spectacular both day and night. There are many places to visit in Budapest, but what you can not miss out on in the world is to stroll through its charming corners and most emblematic places. Take Váci Utca street or Andrássy Avenue, cross the Chain Bridge, see the Parliament and the whole city from the Fishermen's Bastion, relax in one of its spas or parks, have a drink in one of its historic cafes or enjoy of an opera or ballet, are just some of the many things to see and do in Budapest.
We have made a list of what we think are the 10 essential places to visit in Budapest, based on our trip to Budapest in 4 days. We start!
1. Budapest Parliament and Shoes on the Danube
The Parliament located on the banks of the Danube is the most famous building in the city. The neo-gothic building is spectacular on the outside and inside, with an interior decorated with marble and gold that is incredible. Its most important treasure is the San Esteban crown in the Hall of the Dome, although it also highlights its main staircase and the Old Upper House. The guided tour lasts about 45 minutes and is essential to understand the history and many of the curiosities of the place.
The best views of the Parliament are obtained from a cruise on the Danube, from the viewpoint of the Fishermen's Bastion or from the Buda bank, from where the views are truly wonderful. Another of the must-see moments is when night falls, when the city dresses up.
On the banks of the Danube and next to the Parliament is the touching monument Shoes on the Danube, in memory of the Jews killed during the Second World War.
2. Chain Bridge
The Chain Bridge is one of the most beautiful in the world and one of the must-see places in Budapest.
It is also the oldest bridge in the city that unites Buda and Pest, wearing a special way at night with its careful lighting.
The bridge was destroyed at the end of the Second World War by order of the Germans, was later rebuilt and reopened in 1949. The best views of the bridge are obtained from the bank of Pest, where there is a perfect bank area to sit or have a picnic with an incredible view of the bridge.
The views are also very good as you go up or down the Buda Hill and from a cruise on the Danube at nightfall.

3. Buda Castle
The Buda Castle or Royal Palace is another building that you have to visit in Budapest. Located on top of Buda Hill, it was built in the 14th century and during the Second World War it was almost in ruins and was rebuilt in a neoclassical style.
To climb the castle there are several options, we recommend the one we did in our visit that included going up at sunset with the funicular and walking down at night. In the interior there is the Hungarian National Gallery, the Budapest History Museum or the Szechenyi Library, although we do not consider your visit essential, if you have time it can be interesting. It is worth going up to the castle not only for the views of the city but also for the walk you can take throughout the neighborhood surrounding the castle, full of charming streets and shops.
4. Spas
Thermal water spas are one of the most essential places to visit in Budapest. In the city you can find up to 118 springs with a temperature between 28ºC and 80ºC. The first to enjoy its waters were the Romans and later the Turks.
When entering one of them you have to make sure that the pools are mixed, so as not to take any surprises and if you bring a towel, flip-flops or a swimsuit. Otherwise you can always rent it at the facilities.
5. Fishermen's Bastion and Matthias Church
The Fishermen's Bastion, located on the hill of Buda is the best viewpoint of Budapest by far. This neo-Romanesque and neo-Romanesque terrace has seven towers that represent the seven Magyar tribes that founded the country.

1. Times Square
Times Square is the epicenter and the most touristic place in New York. Everyone who comes to this city goes by several times here, either day or night, and to admire their posters and neon lights. To take good pictures you can go up the red stairs of the TKTS, from where you will have a fantastic view of this street crossing.

2. Grand Central Terminal
Grand Central Terminal is one of the jewels of the city and one of the must-see places in New York. With more than a century of history this mythical railway station has become an icon of the city, with its emblematic clock located in the central part and surrounded by screens of arrival and departure of trains.

5. Central Park

7. Fifth Avenue
This is the most famous street in New York. It crosses the city from north to south and is also one of the most commercial places to visit in New York. The part of the most tourist avenue is the one located between Central Park and the Cathedral of San Patricio, where the most exclusive and famous stores are located, among which Tiffany & Co, known for the "Breakfast with Diamonds" scene or the Apple store. Louvre Museum, the home of La Gioconda

The rosettes, the flying buttresses, the columns, the stained glass windows, the famous gargoyles and their heart-rending expressions. You are, by all accounts, before the zenith of Gothic architecture. If you want to climb the towers prepare for several hours of queue and then climb up a steep spiral staircase. However, the views more than compensate for the long wait. The panoramic views and the flirting with the famous gargoyles are a wonderful sensation. It was there that we decided that we would not make any more queues. Paris is worth a Mass, but we do not have all the eternity to celebrate it.
